Most of us have heard horrible stories about sexually transmitted diseases affecting the lives of many people. These diseases are everywhere and the statistics are rising so fast that this has become a major health problem. It can affect anybody regardless of age, gender, nationality, or social class.

Teenagers or adolescents are mostly affected by these sexually transmitted diseases because of curiosity and lack of information. These teenagers are often too afraid to ask their parents about these diseases because they may be embarrassed or misunderstood.

So, it is important for parents to take the first step in educating their children about sexually transmitted diseases in a manner they can fully understand. A lot of educational materials are readily available today.

People can use books, pamphlets, and even the internet to know more about these sexually transmitted diseases. In any disease, education is still the best weapon. STD pictures and symptoms classification plays a big role in determining these diseases because most of the symptoms can be mistaken as a symptom in another medical condition.

These pictures may not be pleasant to look at, but they provide a better visualization for people who are interested in learning about these diseases. There are many types of sexually transmitted diseases, but there are twenty five diseases most commonly diagnosed. These are AIDS or Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome, one of the deadliest sexually transmitted disease, Genital Warts, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, perhaps the most common sexually transmitted disease, Genital Herpes, Chlamydia, Pubic Lice or Crab Lice, Vaginitis, and Hepatitis.

Each of these diseases have characteristic symptoms, and determining which type of sexually transmitted diseases a person is experiencing just by looking at the visible signs may be difficult, because aside from their unique symptoms, these diseases also share a lot of common symptoms. So, it is important that a person who suspects they may have a sexually transmitted disease seek medical consultation so that proper tests will be performed to yield a proper diagnosis. Most of these diseases also don’t show any symptoms in their early stages, so it is possible that a person is unaware that he/she is already infected with the disease.

This is especially harmful because these people may continue to have sexual contact with different people, thus promoting a fast transmission of the disease. A regular appointment with a gynecologist is highly recommended, especially for women planning to be pregnant so that an early diagnosis can be made, preventing any complications to both the patient and her baby.

These sexually transmitted diseases pose a lot of harmful complications if left untreated, and can affect the baby because transplacental transmission is also possible. This can cause birth defects and abnormalities, premature delivery, and even death. So if you are experiencing any abnormalities in your body, especially in the genital areas, you should immediately seek the help of a medical professional.

Fear should not be a reason to hide these diseases, because they can be treated and prevented. A lot of tests are also fast and affordable with results coming out in less than an hour. Medical institutions and STD clinics also provide complete confidentiality with each consultation.

Every sexually transmitted disease is unique and has characteristic symptoms differentiating them from one another. Though there are common symptoms present in most of these diseases, these symptoms may differ in appearance and the time in which they appear during the course of the disease.

Some STDs don’t even show any symptoms, and if they do, they can be mistaken for a common allergy or any other ailment. So, it is important to use visual materials when presenting the symptoms of these sexually transmitted diseases so that people will know the difference of regular symptoms from that of STDs.

Syphilis is one of the most common STDs affecting a lot of people. Its characteristic symptom is cluster-like rashes called chancre which appear around the genital areas, especially the vagina or penis, and can even appear on the rectal area. These rashes may disappear after some time, but may reoccur in other parts of the body, especially the palms of the hand and the soles of the feet. Genital warts is another common STD, and is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus or HPV. These warts appear as pink or flesh colored swellings that are soft and moist to the touch.

These warts also vary in appearance, numbers, and sizes. They may be raised or flat, single or multiple in numbers, small or large, and they usually appear in clusters like a cauliflower. There are also warts that cannot be easily seen. When this happens, Acetic Acid is applied to the area to make the warts appear. The most common areas for genital warts are the vulva, vagina, anus, cervix, penis, groin area, scrotum, and thigh. Genital warts are transmitted through sexual contact or direct contact with the warts. These warts are not curable, though there are surgical procedures to remove them. Removal doesn’t guarantee a cure, and these warts can reappear.

Herpes is another STD caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus. Its most common symptom is a blister or sore that appears on the skin and can be mistaken for an insect bite or a common allergy. These blisters appear in small groups and may be painful. The first out break of these sores appear during the first 2-4 weeks of the disease. And even though the blisters are already healed, the scabs are still infectious. A second out break may also occur which is more severe and may be accompanied by flu-like symptoms and swelling of the lymph nodes. Crab lice are parasites that dwell in the genital organs and can be transmitted during sexual contact. These parasites hide under the skin and pubic hair causing intense itching and skin irritation. The affected area will also appear reddish and irritated. A severe skin inflammation may also occur.

Using a pictures of STDs on men and women can be a big help in knowing the characteristic signs and symptoms of these diseases. It is important not only in curing it, but, most importantly, preventing its transmission. These diseases can cause a great amount of discomfort and pain, and most of have severe complications. Proper protection is also important to prevent a person from contracting these diseases, and early detection is an imperative to initiate proper treatment.

The fast rise of sexually transmitted diseases all around the world is becoming a major health issue. Even though these diseases are easily preventable, lack of information and ignoring these issues are causing these diseases to spread rapidly.

Most people don’t have much information about STDs, and though some suspect they may be affected, they avoid getting themselves tested due to fear of embarrassment.

But more than anything, these diseases should be treated with urgency to prevent serious complications and to stop transmission.

If these diseases are left untreated, they can pose serious health problems. They can lead to infertility in men and women, brain damage, heart disease, and, in some cases, death. STDs in women can also affect their babies during pregnancies and when giving birth.

The most common symptom present in STDs is pain in the lower abdomen or groin area. This pain may occur in a short period of time, but it can be very severe. In women, the pain can extend to the vaginal canal and can happen during sexual intercourse. In genital herpes, the pain is more localized, and is accompanied by the outbreak of lesions.

A burning sensation in the genital areas and painful urination are also common symptoms in STDs. This is caused by the inflammation of the urethral lining that is present in most STDs. Unfortunately, these symptoms are not exclusive to STDs, so a diagnostic test is very important to confirm the disease. Syphilis is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, and it is characterized by a round, cluster-like rash called chancre. These rashes appear around the genital areas like the vagina and penis, but can also be present in the rectal area.

These rashes often disappear after sometime, but they can reoccur and may affect other parts of the body, such as the palms of the hands or the soles of the feet. Another common disease is Genital Herpes. This disease is caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus and is characterized by recurring out breaks of blisters or sores that appear on the cervical lining in women and the urethral lining in men. There is a common misconception about the Herpes Virus that causes cold sores and the one causing Genital Herpes. Many people think that the virus causing cold sores cannot initiate a genital infection, but in fact, it does. This STD can be transmitted during pregnancy and may cause serious problems for the baby. Though there is no cure for Genital Herpes, the frequency of out breaks can be prevented.

Although there are several vaccines available to prevent these diseases, the only way to be completely protected is through abstinence. It is also recommended to restrict the number of sexual partners to those with a healthy sexual history, but not a lot of people even know that they have STDs. The use of condoms is also highly effective, but only if properly used. If condoms are not used properly, people still have a high chance of contracting an infection.

Sexually transmitted diseases used to affect only a few people in the population, but these days the number of people suffering from these conditions continues to rise. This is a sad reality affecting society, especially women, and it can pose serious health threats not only to them, but to people they transmit the disease too.

These diseases can be transmitted easily with just one sexual contact, and can take months for symptoms to develop.

Early detection and proper treatment is imperative for these conditions not only to cure, but most importantly to stop the transmission of the disease.

Although different sexually transmitted diseases have characteristic symptoms, there are also common symptoms that are present in most of them, and the early detection of these symptoms may help a lot in curing and preventing the spread of the disease. One of the most common symptoms that is present in most sexually transmitted diseases is pain in the lower abdomen or groin area. This pain may only occur in a short span of time, but can be very severe. It can extend to the vaginal canal and women may experience pain during sex.

In genital herpes, the pain can be more localized and is accompanied with the breakout of lesions. Women can also experience a burning sensation during urination, and can become worse if not treated immediately. Another common symptom is an unfamiliar vaginal discharge. This discharge can be cloudy, and usually occurs during or after a sexual intercourse. In some cases where there is severe infection, the discharge may contain blood. The discharge may vary depending on the disease, but most patients experience a burning sensation or itching at the site of the discharge and it may also be accompanied by a strong vaginal odor.

The third most common symptom present in most sexually transmitted diseases is any type of skin irritation or growth in the groin area. In some STDs, visible bumps or lesions may appear indicating that the virus is present. Some type of STDs has its pathognomonic sign (a sign that characterize a particular disease). Like in syphilis in first stage, a painless skin lesion called chancre appears in the point of contact. Syphilis pictures may help you determine its appearance. In genital warts, the lesions or bumps will appear at the site of initial sexual contact. In some STDs, the lesions are more pronounced and may be accompanied by pain, itching, and even bleeding, but some lesions are minor and can go unnoticed. It is important that if a woman notices any growth or bumps in the groin area, she should immediately seek consultation with a gynecologist.

Sexually transmitted diseases can really affect women, but they pose a greater threat during pregnancy or childbirth than any other time. It is important that women are aware of these symptoms so they can assess their health status. Women should be informed about STDs, they should assess their level of protection and how they can prevent these diseases, and they should have themselves checked on a regular basis and most especially when they are planning a pregnancy. More than the effects of the disease, the complications are more severe and harder to treat. In pregnant women, STDs can cause uterine infections after delivery, premature rupture of membranes, and early labor. Some complications are cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis, and even cervical cancer. So, it is an imperative for each woman to be informed about these diseases not only to save her life, but others lives as well.

Syphilis is caused by a spirochete called Treponema pallidum, and it is transmitted sexually or through direct contact with infectious exudates. Transplacental infection can also occur. There are three major stages in Syphilis and one latent or inactive stage. During the primary stage, the formation of an ulcer or chancre occurs. These ulcers are primarily indurated, painless, and with serous exudates. The chancre usually develops after 21 days from infection, though some may appear earlier (10-20 days) and some later (22-90 days). When the chancre becomes evident, Syphilis can be very infectious.

When a person comes in contact with these ulcers, the infection happens.

Even the use of condoms do not guarantee protection, especially if the chancre is outside the woman’s vagina or the man’s scrotum. If the ulcer is in the mouth, a kiss can even lead to transmission of the disease.

In most cases, the ulcers will eventually heal itself after 3-6 weeks, but 25% of these cases develop into secondary Syphilis, if proper intervention is not given.

Secondary Syphilis can last from 4-6 weeks and can affect more organs in the body, because it is systemic. The secondary stage is primarily manifested by a generalized maculo-papular rash that affects the palms of the hand and the soles of the feet. These rashes can be very obscure, thus it is mostly unnoticeable. Other systemic manifestations of this stage are fever, hair loss, sore throat, white patches in the nose, mouth, and vagina, and headache.

Lesions on the genitals appear and can look like genital warts. These lesions and the rashes are very contagious. After the secondary stage, the disease can progress to its asymptomatic stage or the latent phase. During this stage, the person will not experience any symptoms, which can last for more than 20 years, but the disease can still progress to its third stage after dormancy. During the tertiary stage, the disease ceases to be infectious anymore, but it can still cause a lot of systemic problems affecting major organs of the body. Some of the conditions that may appear during this stage are aortitis, neurosyphilis, and gummatous changes in the skin, bone, visceral, and mucosal surfaces.

The treatment for Syphilis varies based on its particular stage and the clinical manifestations of the disease. Penicillin injections are proven to be most effective in curing not only the early stages, but also the late stages of the disease. During the primary and secondary stages, parenteral Penicillin G is given. During the latency phase, the patient is given 1 Penicillin G injection per week for 3 weeks.

In tertiary Syphilis, an intravenous dose of Penicillin G is required for longer duration. Some alternative treatments, though not fully proven, are oral Doxycycline (Vibramycin, Oracea, Adoxa, Atridox) or Tetracycline (Achromycin). And because pregnant women with Syphilis can pass on the disease to their child through transplacental infection, a shot of Penicillin is really a must, because only Penicillin can enter the transplacental barrier, curing the disease in the child as well. If not properly treated, this disease can cause spontaneous abortion or stillbirth, prematurity, and multi-system abnormalitities such as deafness and blindness. Early detection and treatment is a must for this disease, because it can save not only the mother’s life, but the baby’s life as well.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases can have confusing symptoms. They manifest similar symptoms to common ailments. If you feel that you have contracted STD you can look at STD photos to see if the symptoms appear the same as yours, which in turn can guide you in seeking medical help.

By looking at pictures of STDs on men particularly on the photos of sores, rashes and blisters it could give you a clue on how STD manifests. But a word of advice, the symptoms of STDs are not uniform; they vary from a disease to another.

Syphilis manifests as a round rash called “chancre.” It is found on the genital regions particularly on the penis and vagina. They disappear and then reappear on some parts of the body. They usually are found on the hands and feet. Chancre in some pictures of syphilis would appear like the skin has lost some epidermal layers, where it looks like the skin is peeling off.

Genital warts are pink or flesh colored swells found in the genitals, they are soft and light when felt. There could a singular swelling or they could manifest in a multitude of swellings often resembling a cauliflower. STD pictures help greatly in identifying the manifestations of genital warts which is caused by the “Human Papilloma Virus” or HPV and is transmitted by sexual intercourse.

Herpes is commonly photographed and in STD photos they appear as blisters or sores many would often mistake as an insect bite. These are painful sores. From two to three week of transmission sores will appear as an initial outbreak, a second outbreak will bring in flu-like manifestations.

Another STD is crab lice, identifiable in photos of STDs where the penis and vagina appears reddish, irritated and inflamed. The crab lice are transmitted by sexual contact through a person carrying these parasites. These lice go for the genital organs where they thrive. These crab lice can be detected upon close examination of the genitals to look for areas where these lice and mites thrive and hide.

STD photos can help you look out for telltale signs of a STD infection. That way before the disease starts to worsen you can approach your doctor and seek professional help.
